Periodically we get inspired to record some of the more memorable days of trips that we have made. They serve to remind us of the things that we have done, the places we have been to and the people we have met and if we do not record them we tend to forget great chunks of the times we have spent away.
For those viewing these diaries we hope you find them interesting but they are more likely to be of interest only to our family and friends.

We had our final breakfast at the Hotel Santa Isabel and met up with the others before taking a vintage car into Central Park. We stayed in the cool of the Central Park Hotel foyer before walking into the square to take a tour of the theatre. Unfortunately it was closed and was only open to the public on Friday and Saturday nights during performances. Instead we walked across the square to the art gallery but only stayed for a short time since it was very hot and not airconditioned. It seems that there were two art galleries, one displaying European art ( the one that we went to) and the... + details

Conrad, our driver, picked us up in a seven seater van and drove the 390 kms to Trinidad (view some images of Trindad) via Cienfuegos where we stopped for lunch in a charming building. We arrived in Trinidad in the late afternoon and headed for the 'Casa Particulares' that the others had booked. Unfortunately, or maybe fortunately, there were insufficient rooms for all of us to stay there and Jenny and I had booked into a hotel called the Iberostar. The proprietor of the home stay house was called Yolanda Maria and her house was remarkable. From the outside is was very plain but the inside... + details

To get to Havana from Las Vegas we had to transit through Mexico City and we finally arrived at 3.00pm. We were picked up by car and drove to the Hotel Santa Isabel overlooking the Plaza de Armas. After unpacking we met Geoff, Rosie and the Georges to have our complimentary 'mojitas' made of white rum, sugar, mint and ice and in the oppresive heat they were very refreshing and quite strong. Later we walked along Obispo street in front of the hotel where there were no cars but lots of people sitting in doorways, selling cigars, peanuts in paper cones, sweet cakes and souvenirs. We were... + details

After flights from Melbourne to Las Vegas via Sydney and Los Angeles we were pleased to get to Bellagio. It was a stunning place and seemed to be as large as a small city with wall to wall restaurants, shops and gaming tables operating day and night. We settled into our room mid afternoon and although jet lagged decided to make the most of the two days that we had in Las Vegas. Shopping and shows are the thing! Shopping during the day and shows at night although there are plenty of matinees. Everything is a bit overwhelming  so we headed off to the concierge to see what he recommended.... + details
