Periodically we get inspired to record some of the more memorable days of trips that we have made. They serve to remind us of the things that we have done, the places we have been to and the people we have met and if we do not record them we tend to forget great chunks of the times we have spent away.
For those viewing these diaries we hope you find them interesting but they are more likely to be of interest only to our family and friends.

One of the highlights of our trip to the Kimberley was the fishing exploits of Geoffrey George. We dined out on freshly caught fish at the Cable Beach Resort and again at El Questro at Emma Gorge. The first of our piscatorial delights consisted of fresh Spanish Mackeral and Golden Snapper. The size of the fish are unknown except to say they were large enough. Six of us were able to eat barbequed fish coupled with salad and chips from the Sunset Bar and Grill. A fitting end to our stay at Cable Beach. However better was still to come when we travelled on to El Questro. Geoff joined two... + details

Whilst we were in Broome, Rosie, Jenny, Geoff Allen and I decided to take a day trip to the Horizontal Falls and we were not disappointed. It was one of the highlights of the trip to the Kimberley. We set off early in the morning to Broome airport where we boarded a seaplane and took off for the Falls which were about an hour's flight away. The scenery was spectacular and we flew over the Falls before we landed on the water close to a pontoon which was used as staff and guest accomodation. We had breakfast and fed the sharks before boarding a custom built boat that took us to the Falls... + details

The Intrepids took their third trip to the Kimberley in the north west of Australia in April/May, 2013. We assembled in Broome at the Cable Beach Resort and spent a week relaxing before heading off to Fitzroy Crossing, Halls Creek, Kunnunurra and Darwin. Most days were spent in the Ocean Pool, which was for adults only, sipping drinks from the poolside bar and sharing snacks. In the evenings we headed for the Sunset Bar & Grill in sufficient time to get a table big enough for the six of us and in the front row so we could see the sun setting over the sea and the camels returning... + details

From Broome we had a two day drive before arriving at the Bungle Bungles. We had hired two Pajero 4WD's and headed towards the first stop at Fitzroy Crossing. We detoured to Derby where we had some lunch but we could easily have given Derby a miss - there really wasn't much there. Late in the afternoon we arrived in Fitzroy Crossing and settled into the Fitzroy River Lodge. We headed off to watch a film at the cinema. It was adjacent to the main pub and when we got there the gardener had left the hose on during the day so the floor was still wet with small puddles everywhere. Maybe a... + details
