Periodically we get inspired to record some of the more memorable days of trips that we have made. They serve to remind us of the things that we have done, the places we have been to and the people we have met and if we do not record them we tend to forget great chunks of the times we have spent away.
For those viewing these diaries we hope you find them interesting but they are more likely to be of interest only to our family and friends.

We were invited to join a few friends to celebrate 2013 New Year's Eve at Geoff Allen's place in Daylesford. We left Ella in the care of Peter and Kate in Deans Marsh and drove to Daylesford along the Midland Highway via Ballarat. Geoff's place is adjacent to the Daylesford Botanical Gardens and close to the town centre. In reality the house is called 'Kate's Place' and 'Georgie's Garden' and was on of Kath Allen's projects before she died on February 14th, 2010. It is a beautiful legacy of her artistic capability. We arrived at about 5.00pm and met Geoff Allen, Heather & Geoffrey... + details

There is parking at the pier or on the grass to the right of the pier before descending to the beach where there are often one or two fishermen on the rocks and serious surfers riding some fairly large waves. The coast consists of small sandy beaches between rocks where the dog loves to take its chance trying to find... + details

We took Catherine, Olivia and Willow for a week away at our small property in Deans Marsh whilst Andy was on a "boys' outing" surfing in the Seychelles. A month into springtime we expected to have some beautiful weather with trips into Lorne for coffee and walks along the beach. How wrong we were. We had the strongest winds that we had experienced in Deans Marsh and at Aireys Inlet winds were recorded at more that 100km per hour. Not only did we have strong winds but the rain gauge measured 35ml after 24 hours of steady rain. Luckily the house suffered no damage but one of the largest... + details

We are in the early stages of planning a six month stay in Mazamet in the South of France. The opportunity arose from a response to our listing on the Home4Exchange website where I had posted details of our house a couple of years ago. Since that time we have had a small number of people wanting to exchange with us but they never had the same feel as the possible exchange in France. The initial suggestion was that we exchange for a period of twelve months but for us that was too long to be away from the family and, Ella, our beautiful boxer dog. Even six months seemed too long but we... + details
