Periodically we get inspired to record some of the more memorable days of trips that we have made. They serve to remind us of the things that we have done, the places we have been to and the people we have met and if we do not record them we tend to forget great chunks of the times we have spent away.
For those viewing these diaries we hope you find them interesting but they are more likely to be of interest only to our family and friends.

After a rest and shower at the hotel in preparation for the twenty hour journey to Mazamet we set off for the airport for the 2355 pm flight to Toulouse via Frankfurt. Two things worried us: the first was the changeover time of one hour at Frankfurt and the second was the transport from Toulouse to Mazamet. Fortunately both went without a hitch. The flight to Frankfurt arrived thirty minutes early which gave a us plenty of time to walk what seemed like a couple of miles to gate A68 where we took the bus to the aircraft. For a moment I thought we were being driven to Toulouse since the bus... + details

On our way to Mazamet we planned to break our journey with two nights in Singapore. We didn't get off to a good start. This wouldn't have been so bad if it wasn't for the fact that it was always going to leave at 4.45pm and we had just made a mistake. Then we were just about to get on the plane when my name was called over the loudspeaker and asked to go to the departure gate immediately. Were we going to find that... + details

Nestled in the heart of Richmond behind the corner of Bridge and Punt Roads lies the Royal Melbourne Tennis Club. This club is one of the best kept secrets in Melbourne. The club was first opened in 1882 by Lord Normanby and located in Exhibition Street in the centre of Melbourne.  It consisted of a tennis court and club rooms, and later squash courts and a swimming pool were added. During the 1970s, the Committee sold the Exhibition Street site and purchased the Richmond site in 1974, which included several houses in Richmond Hill to allow for a bigger Club and expansion plans.  The... + details

It must be some time since we have been on the Lake Walk around the Botanic Gardens. A couple of days ago we took the dog for its regular walk around the lake and stumbled across the new pontoon in front of the cafe in the middle of the gardens. There is a substantial new structure and three very well appointed punts which are available for hire. The punts are propelled by a straw hatted person who stands on the back platform of the punt and uses a large pole a bit like the goldoliers in Venice. The weather was perfect and there were a couple of punts gliding around the lake. It's... + details
