We stayed in Biarritz in a hotel that was just across from the beach so we were within walking distance of just about everything. Without any planning at all we always seem to be in the right place at the right time and this Sunday was no exception. On the first Sunday of every month there is a concert of Basque music, singing and dancing just across the road from our hotel. The atmosphere was wonderful. The sun was shining, the crowd were joining in and many were wearing some Basque scarves and berets. The Basque language is indescribable with letters in unpronounceable combinations which maybe why a lot of the people in the crowd were 'la la la'ing' instead of singing the words. We bought the book of songs and the words were impossible to read.
Wandering around Biarritz was very pleasurable and we walked down to the port where there were a number of restaurants overlooking the boats.
We booked into Chez Albert for the evening meal and after a short walk back to the hotel for a rest we drove down to St Jean de Luz. Jenny's cold was getting worse as the day progressed and we only spent a short amount of time walking along the main street in St Jean de Luz before resting in the hotel and later heading to Chez Albert for a fishy evening meal.
